What is Book Coaching?

Book coaching is the process of getting your story planned, drafted, revised, and pitched with tailored help. Writing is an exceptionally lonely pastime, and book coaching helps you navigate the ups and downs of the work with guidance and support.

Why Me? How can I help?

I’ve always been obsessed with books. I wrote my first “novel” when I was six. Over the past 30 years, I’ve tried to level up. I’ve…

• Completed my MFA in Creative Writing from Northwestern.

• Certified as an Author Accelerator Book Coach.

• Worked 10 years in adult learning and development.

But that’s the snoozy resume stuff.

The core reason I do this work is that stories have been so important to me in my life. Stories were my way of escaping, processing, and connecting with the world when things got turbulent: when my dad died when I was young; when I come out in a religious household; when I bailed on law school plans and pursued a writing degree. I know how powerful a narrative is to experience and tell. I want to help others create those connections and share their stories with the world.

I focus on fiction writers who are ready to start or revise their manuscripts. I’m open to most genres, but I specialize in:

Book Coaching Services

Book coaching packages are available in monthly and time-bound packages based on your needs.

Monthly Coaching Packages

In the book coaching package, you’ll meet with me twice a month and have 10-20 page deadlines for each meeting. Pricing: $350/month with multi-month discounts available

Time-Bound Packages

Sometimes you just want to get your feet wet. The below options are for shortened book coaching packages that will help you develop the beginning, middle, or end of your book project.

The Author Accelerator Blueprint

This package will help you get your project planned. I will give you the Author Accelerator Blueprint for a Book. You’ll review and complete the tool, and then we’ll schedule an hour call to review your project and talk through any issues or roadblocks. The goal of these sessions is to get you feeling confident with a clear path forward on writing your novel. Pricing: Packages start at $250

Manuscript Evaluation

Have a completed draft? In a manuscript review, I’ll go through the project and help you find strengths and opportunities for improvement. After I complete the review, we’ll have a call to discuss the project and the path forward. You’ll leave the evaluation with clear developmental edits and a roadmap for a new draft. Price: Packages start at $50 for a first chapter review

Launch

Launch packages are only available after a full manuscript review; this is to be sure your project is ready for launch. As part of the launch package, we will discuss traditional and self-published routes. I will help you prepare for whichever path you want to pursue. By the end of the engagement, you will have a clear plan for either self-publishing your novel or submitting to agents. Price: Packages start at $500
